An Innisfail business has come close to taking out a significant business award.
Innisfail Cartridge World owner Tony Leacy said in his first attempt the business came second in the Franchise of the Year award for Queensland stores.
Mr Leacy said he and staff member Brandii Warburton attended the Cartridge World national conference for franchisees from Australia and New Zealand.
"It’s our first full year of operation since I purchased the business" Mr Leacy said. "We were elated to be amongst the finalists in the Franchise of the Year competition for Queensland stores. I’m determined to win the award next year."
Mr Leacy, who was a telephone contractor for about four years before buying the cartridge business, said he was confident about the future of Innisfail. He was investing in new machinery to cope with demand.
"This week saw the arrival of the latest technology in automated cartridge refilling machines" he said.
"This addition to the store’s equipment is capable of filling 150 cartridges per hour. This level of investment reflects the confidence the store has in Innisfail’s future despite the current economic difficulties."
"Also arriving soon is a flatbed printer which allows photos to be printed onto iPad and iPhone cases, acrylic photo frames, jig saws and a variety of other media" Mr Leacy said.
